Entrancing Tales for Change

Entrancing Tales for Change

               The English Sisters

The intriguing title of this book gives a flavour of what is to come.  It is at once ambiguous and enticing and, whether you are an NLP practitioner or hypnotherapist; someone looking to make some changes in your own life; or an artist wanting nurture your creativity it will not disappoint.

At first glance it has the appearance of a poetry collection and with its short lines, truncated syntax, occasional rhyme and quiet metaphorical allusion, each tale does resemble a poem.

The beauty of this is that even if you are not interested in poetry, the short lines, rhythmic prose and occasional rhyme makes it an easy book to keep nearby to pick up and read just one short tale at a time.  And the stories themselves are disarmingly simple.

This poetic layout lends itself to hypnotic trance.  Much as a poem invites you to suspend your hold on the conscious mind, so these brief stories will take you back to a time of listening to the barely understood stories of childhood. The subtle use of Ericksonian language has the lilt of a story heard in translation, leaving meaning open to interpretation at many levels.

Who could argue with

‘As you are reading
changes are taking place’

or

‘you can only begin
to imagine how much information
your unconscious mind
has already begun to absorb’

With titles as varied as The Crystal Palace, Wild Fire, and You Can Teach an Old Dog New Tricks, something here will speak to you.  I’m going to keep a copy on my bedside table to nurture my dreams.
