change works . . .

What is NLP?

NLP stands for Neuro Linguistic Programming. It is often said that the name is the least helpful thing about NLP, and I would agree, which is why I call it New Life Perspectives. On this page I give a brief overview of what NLP means and how I use NLP in coaching. For a deeper look at NLP follow the links.

New Life Perspectives with Sali

My aim, like Bandler and Grinder's, is to help you enjoy a fuller, richer and happier life.

Experience

Because I know, from my own experience, that NLP can change lives, I help you make the changes that you are looking for. When you see, hear or feel something from an unfamiliar perspective, you are beginning to create real change.

Normal Process

We experience our thoughts, feelings and actions interacting at all times. When we change one of these aspects it effects change in the others. This is happening to us all the time. It is a normal and natural process. By making carefully designed interventions in this process we can achieve our own specific goals and change our lives.

A Solution Focused Approach

NLP may refer to the past in order to understand your present experience of life and focus energy on the future; confident that solutions to your current problem will emerge. Because we focus on solutions, problems become easier to approach and change begins to sound realistic. After just one appointment you will be feeling more hopeful.

Neuro Linguistic Programming

NLP was created by Richard Bandler and John Grinder whose basic premise was that, whenever someone has a successful strategy or intervention, someone else can learn it. They studied and modelled some of the world's most successful people in a variety of fields including therapy and identified skills which can be learned and applied in order to help people have better, fuller and richer lives.

Connections

NLP works with the connections between the processes of the brain (Neuro) our language (Linguistic) and the habits we have developed (Programming). The name 'NLP' is explained in greater depth here.

Tool Kit

NLP is often described as a tool kit for life because it offers specific techniques for improving how you think, feel and act.once you have these tools you can also begin to help others to make changes in their lives.

Principles

NLP has a set of central principles, or presuppositions, that form a guiding philosophy: a set of ethical principles for life. They continue to influence the development of NLP. Read the presuppositions of NLP here.
